The weather station is solar powered using a Solarex MSX-20 20 watt solar module including a 12V charger and regulator and 12 AH lead acid battery. The system was supplied by Campbell Scientific Inc., contact Doug Bryson, 435-750-9549. The data logger is supplied by Campbell Scientific CR10X-1M data logger with 1 megabyte memory storage module and PC208W Windows data logging software. The enclosure and tower is a Campbell Scientific ENC 12/14 (12” X 14” weather proof enclosure), CM10 (10’ tripod, grounding kit and CM10 guy wire kit. On July 30, 2007, Julian Day 211, the weather station was moved from Governor Dummer Academy to the Marshview Farm field station off Rt 1, Newbury, approximately 1/2 mile away. The PAR sensor was also changed on July 30, 2007 and was found to be cracked which compromised measurements of PAR prior to July 30. PAR data from Jan 1 to July 30, 2007 at 1645 EST time has been estimated from a Pyranometer to PAR relationship where PAR (uM/m2-sec) = (pyranometer value (kW/m2) X 1982.2) + 1.0783, r2 =0.983. During maintenance on Nov 7, 2017, the precipitation collector funnel had water in it, clogged, ~ 5 cm of water. Measured precipitation 15 minute data for preceding months of September and October, suspect due to clogging and has been deleted. Daily precip recorded in this dataset represent daily averages of  four NOAA weather stations in Northeast Massachusetts (Beverly, Haverhill, Lawrence and Newburyport) during the months of September and October 2017. The 15 minute weather data for 2017, MON-PR-Met15min2017, will have the 15 minute precip data removed and notes placed in corresponding comments field. May 22, 2019 radiation shield for HMP45C temperature and relative humidty sensor was disassembled and cleaned out. 12 shields were cleaned up from detritus, dirt and debris accumulation over the years, which may have insulated or perhaps affected  temperature or humidity values. PTB101B barometer sensor was replaced with PTB110.

Over the last 30 years, surface sea water temperatures in the adjacent Gulf of Maine have risen at 3 times the global average, rates of sea-level rise have accelerated, and precipitation has increased. Coupled with these changes in climate and sea level are substantial changes within the rapidly urbanizing watersheds that influence water, sediment, and nutrient delivery to the marsh and estuary. In PIE IV our focus is on: Dynamics of coastal ecosystems in a region of rapid climate change, sea-level rise, and human impacts.
