PIE LTER Weather Stations

A meteorological station, GDA, was installed in the Plum Island Sound watershed during the spring of 2000 on the grounds of Governor's Academy (formerly Governor Dummer Academy 42.751484, -70.902407 ), Newbury, MA. The station was moved on July 30, 2007 appproximately 1/2 mile away to the MBL Marshview Farm Field Station (42.756971, -70.891366) in Newbury, MA. and renamed MFM. The station  measures and records
temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, and solar radiation. Go to MFM Weather for near real time data.

Wind speed and wind direction are also measured near the mouth of Plum Island Sound at the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club pier, IBYCmet station, Ipswich, MA. Go to IBYC Wind for near real time data.  QA/QCed GDA and MFM weather and IBYC Wind data is available here.

Additional meteorological data for stations in Northeastern, MA are available through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA)National Climate Data Center (NCDC). Go to Other Data Links for NOAA/NCDC station names and search information used in PIE LTER research.  Atmospheric deposition (wet and dry) available through the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) NADP.  Links to NADP site data useful for PIE watersheds:
