Measurements of tidal creek discharge measurements during tidal creek lateral exchange measurements approximately every 15 minutes from beginning of flood tide to the following low tide, Rowley, MA, PIE LTER.

Abstract:

Measurement of the volume of water during lateral exchange measurements in tidal creek systems draining predominantly low-elevation marsh dominated by Spartina alterniflora (LM1 and LM2) and high-elevation marsh dominated by Spartina patens (West, Nelson, HM1).  Creeks are located in Rowley, MA, PIE LTER.

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN AND METHODS:

Tidal creeks are occupied for approximately 8-10 hours from the start of flood tide to the following low tide, with water discharge volume measurements made four times every approximately 15 minutes using a towable acoustic doppler current profiler (Teledyne Streampro ADCP)  (this dataset), nutrients, suspended solids, and dissolved inorganic carbon (EST-RO-TC-LateralExchange-NUT.xls.xls), and measurement of water-column conductivity, salinity, and dissolved oxygen (EST-RO-TC-LateralExchange-SONDE.xls). A pulley system was placed across the tidal creek to tow the adcp across the creek during measurements. Positive values indicate flood tide discharge, and negative values indicate ebb tide discharge.

Version 01: August 4, 2019, data and metadata updates to comply with importation to DEIMS7 and LTER Data Portal. Used MarcrosExportEML_HTML (working)pie_excel2007_Jun2019.xlsm 6/7/19 12:58 PM for QA/QC to EML 2.1.0.

Version 02: May 12, 2020, data and metadata updates to comply with importation to DEIMS7 and LTER Data Portal. Used MarcrosExportEML_HTML (working)pie_excel2007_Sep2019.xlsm 9/3/19 5:19 PM for QA/QC to EML 2.1.0. Updated by ERJ to include 2019 sampling year.  Two days removed due to poor data quality (6/22/2016 HM1 and 10/13/2016 LM1).
